A 60-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by his son over a dispute over Abu's residence in Medininagar (Jharkhand) in Palamu district. Police gave this information on Friday.

Abua Awas is a housing scheme sponsored by the Government of Jharkhand.

Chhatarpur sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Naushad Alam said the incident took place in Ratnag village under Naudiha Baja police station area on Thursday night, when the man's younger son shot him dead with a country-made pistol.

The police officer said that the accused is absconding after the incident. The deceased was identified as Krishna Singh, who was allotted a house under the Abua Housing Scheme.

The officer said that according to the statement given by the deceased's daughter and second son to the police, there was a dispute between their father and brother regarding the Abu residence on Thursday night, after which the accused shot their father dead.

The SDPO said, the deceased wanted to build a house on his elder son's land but his younger son was not ready for it.
