Gadchiroli, pointing out that society does not like divisions in families, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said he experienced them and has already admitted his mistake, an apparent reference to the feud between his wife Sunetra and cousin Supriya Sule in the recent Lok Sabha. center.

This is the second time in less than a month that NCP leader Pawar has publicly admitted that he had made a mistake in fielding his wife against NCP (SP) leader Sule, daughter of his uncle Sharad Pawar, and pointed out that politics should not enter the home.

The "admission" of the error came in the context of the poor results of the NCP, one of the members of the Mahayuti alliance in the state, in its first general elections after a split in the party.

Addressing the Jansamman rally organized by the NCP in Gadchiroli town on Friday, Ajit Pawar tried to dissuade Bhagyashri, daughter of party leader and state minister Dharmarao Baba Aatram, from crossing over to the Sharad-led NCP (SP). Pawar.

There is speculation about a possible contest between Bhagyashri and her father in the upcoming state assembly elections.

"No one loves a daughter more than her father. Despite giving her away in marriage in Belgaum, he (Aatram) supported her in Gadchiroli and made her president of Zilla Parishad. Now you (Bhagyashri) are ready to fight against your own father. Is this correct?" the deputy CM asked the gathering.

"You must support your father and help him win because only he has the ability and determination to develop the region. Society never accepts breaking up one's own family," he said.

This is like breaking up the family, said Ajit Pawar, referring to the breakup between Bhagyashri and her father over her political movement.

"Society doesn't like this. The same thing happened to me and I accepted my mistake," he said.

The Ajit Pawar-led NCP suffered a heavy defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, losing three of the four constituencies, including Baramati, in which it had contested. On the contrary, the faction led by Sharad Pawar won eight of the 10 seats it contested.

Aatram, an MLA from Aheri in Gadchiroli district, has sided with Ajit Pawar.

"Aatram's daughter learned politics from her father. Aatram was a 'vastad' (master) in politics who always kept a move close to his chest and played it at the appropriate time. Like the vastad, Aatram also does not teach her everything to his student," Ajit Pawar quipped.
