The sky remained cloudy with light rain in parts of Mumbai and western suburbs on Wednesday.

According to officials, road traffic is normal and there is no major jam anywhere and local trains, considered the lifeline of Mumbai, are also running on time barring a few delays.

The Mumbai center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted cloudy skies with intermittent moderate to heavy rain in the next 24 hours, a civic official said.

After more than 300 mm of rain in just six hours on Monday, the country's financial capital has been experiencing intermittent light rain since Tuesday morning.

The sky remained cloudy on Wednesday morning and light rain occurred in some western parts of the city.

A civic official said that in the 24-hour period ending 8 am on Wednesday, the island city recorded an average of 3.42 mm rainfall, while the eastern and western parts received 6.06 mm and 3.83 mm rainfall respectively.
