Gangtok, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Thursday said the ruling SKM is committed to ensuring peace and security in the state after forming the government.

Counting of votes for the assembly elections will take place on June 2, two days before the Lok Sabha elections.

Chairing a meeting with assembly and parliamentary election candidates of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) at his office, he said, "To maintain the identity of Sikkim as a peaceful and harmonious state, peace, goodwill, friendship and brotherhood Maintain." SKM is trying to come to power for the second consecutive time under the leadership of Tamang and has fielded its candidates on all 32 assembly seats in the elections held on April 19.

Tamang thanked all the senior civil and police officials of the state administration for the successful conduct of the elections.

The Sikkim Chief Minister also praised the 4.64 lakh voters for showing immense enthusiasm in participating in the election process, of which 83.5 per cent exercised their franchise this time.

SKM Chi said, “Sikkim witnessed 83.5 percent voting, which is two percent more than 2019. Sikkim's voting percentage has set a record high compared to other states in the country, for which the voters deserve congratulations. ,

He said, this election has been the most peaceful in the history of Sikkim and all stakeholders have contributed equally in the conduct of the election process.

Tamang said, “It should be everyone's endeavor to ensure complete peace and security in the state for the benefit of the people of Sikkim and no disturbance will be allowed to disrupt the peace and balance that we have achieved. ,
