New Delhi: The Election Commission of India on Tuesday said 63.37 per cent voting was recorded in the last phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, with 7.05 crore of the 11.13 crore eligible voters exercising their franchise.

Voting took place on 58 seats in eight states in the sixth phase on May 25.

Out of 87.54 crore voters, 57.77 crore voters reached the polling stations to cast their votes in the first six phases of Lok Sabha elections.

India has the world's largest electorate at 96.88 crore.

Citizens who are enrolled in the electoral roll are called voters, while those who actually cast their vote are called electors.

In the 2019 general elections, turnout in the sixth phase (59 seats across seven states went to polls) was 64.4 percent.

According to the Election Commission (EC), the fifth phase of voting held on May 20 recorded 62.2 percent voting.

Voting in the fourth phase was 69.16 percent, which is 3.65 percent more than the same phase in the 2019 general elections.

The voting figure in the third phase of voting was 65.68 percent. The third phase of the 2019 elections saw 68.4 percent voting.

In the second phase of the 2024 elections, 66.71 percent voting was recorded, while in the second phase of 2019, 69.64 percent voting was recorded.

66.14 percent voting was recorded in the first phase of the ongoing general elections. In the 2019 elections, there was 69.43 percent voting in the first phase.
