A week after a hotelier was shot dead in Muzaffarnagar (UP), Shamli district, his two sons and four others were arrested for the alleged murder, police said on Sunday.

According to the police, the main shooter was identified as Jaiveer, who was captured after an encounter with the police team.

Shiv Kumar Kamboj, 60, was allegedly shot dead while he was out on a walk on Canal Road on the morning of September 1, police said.

Police said Kamboj's sons - Shobhit and Mohit - had allegedly paid Rs 10 lakh to shooters Jaiveer and Ashu to carry out the murder after transferring their father's property worth crores of rupees to his second wife.

Shamli Superintendent of Police (SP) Ram Sevak Gautam told reporters on Sunday that the other accused have been identified as Omveer and Rahul Sharma.

He said that all the accused were arrested on Saturday night.

Jaiveer was caught after an encounter in which he was injured and admitted to the hospital, the officer said.

Gautam said, two pistols and an equal number of motorcycles used in the alleged murder have been seized from the accused.

Gautam said that Saharanpur DIG Ajay Kumar has announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for the police team to solve the case.
