Incidentally, none of the NCP MPs, including Praful Patel and Sunil Tatkare, will get ministerial berths.

Similarly, BJP's outgoing Union Ministers Narayan Rane and Dr. Bhagwat Karad have also not got a place in the new cabinet.

The BJP has tried to maintain regional balance and also give importance to politically influential castes while considering ministerial berths to Gadkari, Goyal, Khadse and Mohol.

Nitin Gadkari, who scored a hat-trick by winning the Nagpur seat, comes from the Vidarbha region, where the BJP's performance in the recently concluded general elections was disappointing. Gadkari, who comes from the Brahmin community, has strong support from the RSS. His performance as the Union Minister of Surface Transport and Shipping has earned him recognition across the country and across political parties.Gadkari's induction was especially important for the BJP to step up its efforts to gain control in the Vidarbha region ahead of the state assembly elections due in September-October this year.

Piyush Goyal, who was elected in his first Lok Sabha election from Mumbai North constituency, has held important positions in commerce, power and renewable energy, consumer affairs, food and public distribution. Goyal is close to PM Modi and Amit Shah and has good relations with the industry and business community. Goyal comes from the Agarwal community and is the son of veteran BJP leaders Vedprakash and Chandrakant Goyal.

Raksha Khadse, who won from Raver for the third consecutive time, is the daughter-in-law of Eknath Khadse who is all set to join the BJP again.Raksha Leva comes from the Patil community which is quite influential in Jalgaon and surrounding districts of northern Maharashtra. Raksha's involvement is also a message to Eknath Khadse's critic and state minister Girish Mahajan not to step on each other but work together to strengthen the party ahead of the state assembly elections.

Ramdas Athawale (RPI), who has been the Minister of State for Social Justice, did not field any candidate from his party in the general election, but supported Mahayuti candidates. Their reinvestment is to send a message especially to the Dalit community that the BJP led NDA government will not leave it open but will do everything for its upliftment.

Many BJP people have been surprised by Mohol, who was elected for the first time from Pune, getting the ministerial post. However, his inclusion was a calculated move to keep the politically influential Maratha community happy, especially in the backdrop of the new protest launched by Manoj Jarange Patil demanding Maratha reservation. Mohol is a close confidant of state Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Shiv Sena MP Prataprao Jadhav belongs to the Maratha community and comes from the Vidarbha region. Jadhav was elected to the Lok Sabha for the fourth consecutive time after joining the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena from Uddhav Thackeray. Earlier, Jadhav was a minister of state in the Maharashtra cabinet during the Shiv Sena-BJP government between 1995 and 1999.He was the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committees on Rural Development and Information and Technology.

Meanwhile, the NCP suffered a major setback when the party failed to bag any ministerial berth in the Modi-led cabinet. This is a blow to the NCP, especially after its dismal performance in the general elections. Out of the four seats received during seat sharing between BJP and Shiv Sena, the party could win one seat.

Former minister and NCP working president Praful Patel was the frontrunner for the ministerial post but his name was not considered. Patel's non-inclusion comes at a time when a Mumbai court recently quashed the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) order quashing its 180 case in a money laundering case related to the alleged illegal properties of late Iqbal Mirchi. Attachment of properties worth more than Rs crore was demanded.,

Apart from this, the name of Sunil Tatkare, who was elected for the second consecutive time from Raigarh constituency, is also in discussion. But he also did not receive a call from the BJP leadership. However, Tatkare said he would devote his time to further strengthening the party in Maharashtra.
