Two people died in Sonitpur district and one each in Dibrugarh, Darrang, Golaghat, Biswanath, Tinsukia and Morigaon districts on Wednesday, an Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) official said.

According to ASDMA officials, the floods also submerged more than 39,451 hectares of crop area in 2,800 villages.

More than 11.20 lakh domestic animals have also been badly affected in the current floods.

The Brahmaputra, Barak and all their tributaries are flowing above danger levels at many places. 74 roads, 14 embankments and 6 bridges were damaged by the floods.

The state government has opened 515 relief camps where around 26,000 people have taken shelter, while 359 other relief distribution centers are also functioning in different districts.

Several national and state disaster response forces teams have also been deployed for rescue and relief operations.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday reviewed the flood situation in Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve.

Park officials issued traffic diversions to ensure the safety of the animals. Movement of heavy commercial vehicles has been restricted through the park.

Sarma also visited flood affected Golaghat district.

He said that several battalions of NDRF and SDRF are working to deal with the situation.

"Wherever needed, we have taken help from the Indian Air Force. We have decided to assess the damage and provide relief to the flood-affected people by August 15," the Chief Minister said.

"To carry out this exercise, ministers will travel to different districts and camp for three days. I will go to Barak Valley for a few days. In September-October, we will be able to allocate funds for the damaged people," he said. Prepare the infrastructure and repair it by March next year.
