The flood situation in Guwahati, Assam worsened on Monday with more than 1.05 lakh people in eight districts affected by the floods. This information was given in an official bulletin.

According to the daily flood report of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), more than 1,05,700 people have been affected due to floods in Baksa, Barpeta, Darrang, Dhemaji, Goalpara, Karimganj, Nagaon and Nalbari districts.

It said Karimganj is the worst affected, where over 95,300 people have been affected, followed by Nagaon where around 5,000 people have been affected and over 3,600 people are stranded in flood waters in Dhemaji.

As of Sunday, around 6,000 people were affected by flood waters in just four districts of the state.

The total number of people who lost their lives in floods, landslides and storms this year is 34.

The administration is running 11 relief camps in one district, where 3,168 people have taken shelter, and three relief distribution centers in one district.

The authority has distributed 21.5 quintals of rice, 3.81 quintals of pulses, 1.14 quintals of salt and 114 liters of mustard oil among the flood victims during the last 24 hours.

ASDMA said that currently, 309 villages are submerged in water and 1,005.7 hectares of crop area has been damaged across the state.

Embankments, roads, bridges and other infrastructure have been damaged by flood waters in Bongaigaon, Chirang, Dhemaji, Goalpara, Hojai, Nagaon, Tamulpur, Darrang, Nalbari, Lakhimpur and Udalguri.

ASDMA said that at present, the Kopili river in Kampur is flowing above the danger mark.

Due to widespread flooding, more than 62,173 domestic animals and poultry have been affected across the state.
