MUMBAI: Mutual fund investors put in Rs 21,262 crore into systematic investment plans (SIPs) in June, an industry body said on Tuesday.

This is higher than May's Rs 20,904 crore, the Association of Mutual Funds of India (Amfi) said.

Amfi Chief Executive Venkat Chalasani told reporters that total assets under management (AUM) from SIPs have increased to Rs 12.43 lakh crore, which can be attributed to the market growth led by market bounce and fresh inflows.

A total of 55 lakh new SIPs were registered in June, taking the total number of SIPs to 8.98 crore, while 32.35 lakh matured or were closed, he said.

However, he did not respond to a question on net SIP investments after accounting for outflows.

The total AUM of the MF industry as of June stood at over Rs 61.33 lakh crore and Chalasny said there was an outflow on the loan MF front due to advance tax payments.
