JAKARTA: India's ace shuttler P V Sindhu lost to Chinese Taipei's Su Wen-chi in the first round of the Indonesia Open on Wednesday, making her a surprise early exit from the BWF Super 1000 tournament.

Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist and former world champion, lost 15-21, 21-15, 14-21 in the women's singles competition, her first defeat to Wen-chi.

The Taiwanese shuttler took one hour and 10 minutes to defeat the Commonwealth Games gold medalist.
