Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], Siliguri Strikers made a winning start to the Bengal Pro T20 League after registering an eight-run win over Harbor Diamonds in their opening match at the prestigious Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The Bengal Pro T20 League got underway on Tuesday with the opening match between Siliguri Strikers and Harbor Diamonds in what turned out to be a low-scoring thriller. The league will run till June 28 and promises exciting cricket, ensuring fans stay engaged and entertained

Siliguri Strikers were all out for 141 runs inside 20 overs, but the team did not lose hope and restricted Harbor Diamonds to 133/10 despite a brilliant innings from Badal Singh Baliyan (37 off 22 balls).

Chasing 142, Harbor Diamonds suffered an early blow as opener Sayan Mandal was out in the second over after scoring just 4 runs. The start got off to a bad start when Harbor Diamonds lost the second wicket in the fourth over.

Harbor Diamonds had a slow start and the team scored only 64 runs in the first 10 overs.All the hopes of Harbor Diamonds were dashed due to the fall of two wickets in quick succession in the 13th and 14th overs. However, Badal did not lose hope and continued firing from one end.

Captain Manoj Tiwari played a slow inning of 4 runs in 13 balls. Harbor Diamonds needed 17 runs in 6 balls in the last over and as Badal was out trying to shake the ball, the team fell 9 runs short of the target.

Siliguri Strikers owner Rishabh Bhatia said, “I am happy with the team's performance today.Despite the low score, the team did not lose any hope and gave its best on the field. I am confident that the Siliguri striker will continue to perform well.”

Batting first, Siliguri Strikers were all out at 141/10 in the 20th over. Siliguri team, who came to bat first, had a bad start and lost opener Abhishek Raman in the second over itself.

Ankur Pal and Vishal Bhati revived the innings with a 38-run partnership but Siliguri Strikers lost another opener before the powerplay was completed.Wickets kept falling at regular intervals and in the 11th over, Siliguri Strikers' score soon reached 81/5. Vikas Singh and Shantanu did some repair work in the middle as the score crossed 100 runs.

Siliguri Strikers lost both Vikas and Shantanu (44 off 41 balls) in the same over. Due to the wickets not stopping falling, Akash Deep was also out in the next over. In the end, Siliguri Strikers were reduced to 141/10 in 19.3 overs.Siliguri Strikers will now face Murshidabad Kings on Thursday. Siliguri Strikers is representing Siliguri and other catchment areas like Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar and Kalimpong.
