Addressing a meeting of DCs and CEOs at the conference hall of Vidhan Soudha here, he said, "If the deputy commissioners feel that they are maharajas, development and progress are not possible. Both politicians and bureaucrats are public servants, and this should be kept in mind." Keeping this in mind, they should serve the people."

He said the work to prevent dengue cases should be done on a war footing and DCs and District Health Officers (DHOs) should work in coordination with taluk level officials and act swiftly. Siddaramaiah said, till now action has been initiated against lower level officials for negligence and apathy and from now on action will be taken against senior officials.

“Many deaths occurred due to consumption of contaminated water. If such cases are repeated, action will be initiated against senior officials,'' he stressed.

“Karnataka is a model state in good governance, and it is the responsibility of everyone to maintain this honour. I am receiving 15,000 to 20,000 petitions during public grievance meetings. If the authorities had looked into them, I would not have received such a large number of petitions. DCs and CEOs attending public grievance meetings are only endorsing complaint copies. Is this what you are here to do?" the CM said.

However, Siddaramaiah said, "I have not called this meeting to criticize the officials. This is a review meeting."
