Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the state of Karnataka is one of the major contributors to the country's tax revenue.

"I request you to consider the issues we have raised and pay special attention to the state and city of Bengaluru in the upcoming Union Budget," the Chief Minister asked the Prime Minister.

The Chief Minister told the Prime Minister that the city of Bengaluru is growing rapidly and is also attracting huge migration of labor from across the country.

“The growing city needs investment and the state government has been designing and implementing ambitious plans. We seek the Prime Minister's kind intervention to support the city in its Metro Rail project, peripheral ring road project and a host of other initiatives,” the Chief Minister said.

Siddaramaiah also raised three important issues related to water resources, the Mekedatu balancing reservoir, a subsidy of Rs 3,000 crore for the Upper Bhadra project as promised in the Union Budget 2023-24 and approval of the Kalasa Banduri drinking water.

“We also request that you direct stakeholders in the Ministries of Water Resources, Environment and Forests to investigate these issues. The Mekedatu issue deserves your personal intervention,” the Chief Minister told the Prime Minister.

He said the 15th Finance Commission report was unfair to Karnataka and the state lost its share of tax refund to the tune of 1 per cent, which has resulted in a loss of Rs 1,80,000 crore during a five-year period.

"The Central government should at least consider meeting the Commission's recommendation of targeted state grants of Rs 11,495 crore," the Chief Minister told the Prime Minister during the meeting.

He said the Kalyana Karnataka region of the state deserves special attention and also called for a special package for the region to complement and support the annual allocation of Rs 5,000 crore provided by the state government.

The Chief Minister also congratulated Prime Minister Modi on becoming Prime Minister for a third term and extended good wishes for a successful term in the service of the great nation.
