Mumbai: Streaming service Prime Video on Wednesday announced that the filming of its upcoming series "Matka King" directed by Vijay Varma has begun.

This crime thriller show is directed by Nagraj Manjule, who is known for films like 'Fandry' and 'Sairat'. Manjule has also co-written the screenplay with Abhay Kurane, a press release said.

Prime Video posted an announcement poster on its social media handles, giving the first glimpse of Varma's character, along with the caption, "Ready to place your bets! #MatkaKingOnPrime coming soon but filming right now."

A cotton trader seeking legitimacy and respect starts a new gambling game called 'Matka'.

According to the official description, the game razes the city and democratizes an area that was previously reserved for the rich and elite.

Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Gulshan Grover and more will be there in the series

Siddharth Jadhav in an important role.

"Matka King" is produced by Gargi Kulkarni, Ashish Aryan and Ashwini Sidwani along with Siddharth Roy Kapur and Manjule under the banner of Roy Kapur Films.
