He said the newly launched credit claim automation will ensure timely settlement of claims within a day, which would otherwise take months due to manual settlement.

The Union Minister said the move will also ensure transparency and check corruption.

This would help farmers and agri-entrepreneurs financially and encourage them to undertake more such projects for the development of agriculture in the country, he added.

The Agriculture Infrastructure Fund scheme was launched by Prime Minister Modi in 2020, with the objective of developing post-harvest management infrastructure to reduce losses, realize better value for farmers, innovate in agriculture and attract investments for creation of agricultural infrastructure.

The scheme provides for 3 per cent interest refund to scheme beneficiaries for loans up to Rs 2 crore granted by banks for a maximum period of 7 years, besides refund of credit guarantee fees paid by banks .

The portal has been jointly developed by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and NABARD.

Shivraj Chouhan, addressing senior officials of the government, NABARD and various banks, said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government is committed to increasing the income of farmers and various measures are being implemented in this regard.

He said Prime Minister Modi launched the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund with a corpus of Rs 1 lakh crore in a bid to increase crop storage capacity and reduce farmers' losses.

The portal will also be used by banks, Central Project Management Unit (CPMU) of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and NABARD.

The Union Minister also launched Krishi Katha, a blog aimed at serving as a digital platform to share experiences, knowledge and success stories of farmers across the country.
