Ranchi, Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma are in Jharkhand to chalk out a strategy for the assembly elections in the state later this year, a party official said on Sunday.

BJP election in-charge of Jharkhand Chauhan and co-in-charge Sarma will also review the party's Lok Sabha election performance in the state.

"In his first visit as state election in-charge and co-in-charge, he will hold meetings with party leaders, core committee officials, district presidents, district in-charges and workers," BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev said.

He said a series of brainstorming sessions were scheduled to be held on Sunday.

"The party's performance in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand will be reviewed and a roadmap will be prepared for the upcoming assembly elections," he said.

Chouhan and Sarma planted saplings in litchi gardens at ICAR, Namkum campus and Hatiya area of ​​Ranchi respectively as part of the party's 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi is concerned about the environment. This initiative has been started to make the earth safe for the coming generations," Chouhan told reporters.

He declined to give details about the meetings and only said, "It will be good for Jharkhand."
