"Wagh Nakh" will be kept in the government museum in Satara on July 19 where Sambhaji, Shivaji's descendants and Sardars will visit, the minister said in the Assembly.

The minister said that during his visit to London last year, he had signed an agreement to bring tiger claws for a three-year exhibition.

“These tiger claws were exhibited in 1875 and 1896 after being taken from India to London. The state government had sent its message to the museum when it agreed to give the tiger claws for a period of one year for the exhibition. However, after fresh efforts by the state government, the museum has agreed to give the tiger claws for three years,” the minister said.

He said that “Wagh Nakh” is a source of inspiration and energy for the people.

On the authenticity of the tiger claws, the minister said that only one historian has raised the question but overall people have welcomed this step of the government.

“Many devotees of Shivaji demanded that the encroachment near Afzal Khan's grave be removed. It was decided to demolish it on 5 November 2022. The encroachment was removed on November 10, 2022,” the minister said.

He said that then the devotees of Shivaji informed the state government about the tiger's claw which is currently kept in the London Museum.

“The state government corresponded with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the UK Prime Minister and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The government has signed an MoU with the museum to bring back the tiger claws for three years for a historical exhibition,” the minister said.
