ROME: Indian golfer Subhankar Sharma shot identical 68s in his first two rounds to finish tied seventh at the Italian Open on the DP World Tour here.

The Indian star, who is gearing up for the Olympic Games in August, made five birdies against two bogeys in the second round.

In the first round he made three birdies and one eagle against two bogeys.

Sharma has had an ordinary season, with his best finish being T-7 at the Singapore Classic and T-16 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, one of the tour's premier events.

The other Indian in the fray, Om Prakash Chauhan missed the cut with rounds of 72-71.

Gunner Wiebe carded a 69 in the second round at Adriatic Golf Club to take a one-stroke lead into the weekend.

The American started the second day in a three-way tie for the lead at seven under after his first round of 64, but had to be patient after a level par front nine, with a bogey at the 17th, taking the lead at the 15th. Was cancelled.
