The refit was scheduled to last 90 days, but GRSE added another feather to its cap by completing the process in just 60 days. SCG PS Zoroaster was constructed by GRSE and handed over to the Seychelles Coast Guard by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 8, 2021.

Accordingly, refitting of SCG PS Zoroaster commenced on 22 March this year and was completed on 24 May. According to a senior GRSE official, this was possible through careful planning and an advanced execution strategy.

“This is in keeping with India's Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR) approach. “Undertaking such repairs for a foreign nation was a unique endeavor for GRSE which will go a long way in strengthening the collaborative efforts between India and Seychelles towards enhancing regional stability and security,” the official said.

An Indian Naval team of experts from the Eastern Naval Command at Visakhapat carried out maritime security checks after the repairs. River trials of the ship's machinery were also successfully conducted. The team will continue investigations at sea until SCG PS Zoroaster stops at Visakhapatnam before leaving for Seychelles.

“The ship's stay in Kolkata was supported by the Indian Navy through INS Netaj Subhash. The ship's crew was bid farewell by the Indian Navy and GRSE and will take away fond memories of their stay in the City of Joy,” the Navy posted on Twitter.
