Bengaluru: A court here on Friday sent suspended JD(S) MP Prajva Revanna to police custody till June 6.

The Hassan MP, facing allegations of sexual exploitation of several women, was arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the early hours of Friday after his arrival from Germany. After medical examination at Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, he was produced in the court.

42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate KN Shivakumat heard the remand application and objection arguments of Prajwal's lawyer and sent him to police custody.

Special public prosecutor Ashok Naik argued on behalf of the SIT and sought 14 days of police custody.

Prajwal's lawyer Arun Ji said that the preliminary FI filed against his client till May 5 did not contain any allegation of rape and police custody has not been recommended.

Naik objected to this and said that again there was a lot of evidence against Prajwal and sought police custody.

In his final argument, Arun said that one day's police custody for questioning was sufficient and requested the court not to remand him for more than a day.

After hearing the arguments of both the parties, Judge Shivakumar reserved the decision and after an hour sent Prajwal to police custody.

Meanwhile, the SIT moved the Karnataka High Court seeking cancellation of bail to Prajwal's father and Holenarasipura JD(S) MLA HD Revanna in a kidnapping case.

A single bench headed by Justice Krishna Dixit adjourned the case till Monday.

The Sessions Court had granted bail to HD Revanna. The case pertains to the kidnapping of a woman from KR Nagar, where Revanna is an accused and is out on bail.
