Gurugram: A seven-month-old baby girl was allegedly murdered by her stepfather and thrown on the floor in a slum near Nathupur village here last night. Police gave this information on Friday.

He said that an FIR was registered in this regard at DLF Phase 3 police station and the accused was arrested within a few hours.

Police said the accused has been identified as 30-year-old Vijay Sahni, a resident of Sitamarhi district of Bihar.

He said the incident took place last night in a slum near Nathupur Pahari area, where the accused's wife was living with her brother and seven-month-old baby girl.Police said that the accused reached there and started fighting with his wife and threw his seven-month-old step daughter on the floor. The accused ran away after the incident after which the police were called.

Police said a team reached the spot and took the girl to a nearby hospital where the doctor declared her brought dead.

Police said that according to the complaint of the deceased girl's mother, her husband Vijay Sahni was caught in the case of selling liquor in Delhi.

He told that after being released from jail, he was caught in a chain snatching case in Gurugram about four years ago and was lodged in Bhondsi jail.

The accused's wife said in her complaint, "During this time, I had started living a family life with my husband's brother and seven months ago I gave birth to a baby girl.Vijay was released from Bhondsi jail on Wednesday."

"He came to our slum on Thursday night and during a fight with me, he threw my seven-month-old daughter on the ground, resulting in her death. After this, Vijay ran away," he said in the complaint.

Police said that following the complaint, an FIR was registered against Sahni under section 30 (murder) of the IPC at the DLF Phase 3 police station.

He said that the accused was arrested within a few hours from a slum in Nathupura area.A Gurugram police spokesperson said, "We handed over the girl's body to the family members after the post-mortem today and we are interrogating the accused."
