LAHORE: In a major relief to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), senior party leader and former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi was released from jail on Tuesday.

He was released after the Lahore High Court (LHC) granted him bail and ordered his release in a case related to an alleged illegal appointment made to the Punjab Assembly during his tenure as chief minister, Dawn newspaper reported. Was done.

LHC judge Sultan Tanveer Ahmed earlier on Tuesday accepted Ilahi's bail plea and ordered his release. The court order states that the case against Ila requires further investigation into her crime and her bail plea is being approved with two sureties of Rs 500,000 each, the report said.

After being released, 78-year-old Elahi moved to his residence, Zahoor Ela Palace, Express Tribune reported.In a statement issued by the Central Media Department, Ilahi expressed gratitude for his release from jail.

Describing his period of detention, he said, "I thank Almighty Allah for giving me this honor." Emphasizing his resilience during challenging times, he said, "Allah gave me the strength to persevere."

The leader also thanked the judges who stood by "truth and justice", leading to his release.

He made it clear that he would not hold talks with the children of his brother Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain until his mandate was restored. “There will be no talks with the children of Shujaat until our mandate is returned,” he said.

Ilahi identified Interior Minister and former caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab Mohsin Naqvi as the primary person behind his arrest and the injustice done to him.

Ilahi was first arrested on June 3 last year in the Punjab Assembly recruitment case.The case was related to the illegal recruitment of 1 Grade-17 officers in the Provincial Assembly, in which Ilahi was accused of altering the results of the testing service to select candidates of his choice.
