This new power-play will be in addition to the traditional power-play that takes place during the first six overs of the innings.
During the 'Power Blast Over', only four fielders will be allowed outside the circle, making the phase of the game more aggressive and exciting.
“We decided to bring in this innovation to generate more excitement for the league, which is growing year on year,” said Samantha Dodanwella, Tournament Director of the Lanka Premier League 2024.
He said, "This new introduction will definitely generate a lot of excitement among the fans and teams will need to strategize effectively to make the most of this period."
LPL 2024 is scheduled to be held from July 1 to 21. The fifth edition of the tournament will feature 20 league matches between five franchises, followed by three playoffs and a final. Each team will play each other twice in the league stage before four of the five teams advance to the playoffs.
