Pune (Maharashtra) [India]: Search and rescue operations resumed for the second day on Monday morning after the drowning incident in Lonavala. The Indian Navy has deployed its divers for the operation.

As per the latest updates, two children identified as 4-year-old Adnan Ansari and 9-year-old Maria Syed are still missing.

Earlier, in the drowning incident that took place in Lonavala on Sunday, three people, including two minors, lost their lives due to drowning in the waterfall near Bhushi Dam.

The incident occurred at around 12:30 pm below the waterfall behind Bhushi Dam.

The bodies of the deceased have been recovered, who have been identified as Shahista Ansari (36), Amima Ansari (13) and Umera Ansari (8). He was a resident of Sayyid Nagar, Pune.

A rescue operation is being conducted to find the missing children in a joint effort of Lonavala police and emergency services.

The family was out when the tragedy struck and their picnic turned into a nightmare as five members drowned.

According to Pune Rural Superintendent of Police, Pankaj Deshmukh, "A woman and her four children drowned in a waterfall near Bhushi Dam in Lonavala. Three bodies have been recovered at the end of search and rescue operations today; all five are dead." From the same family."

He further said, "The victims have been identified as Shahista Ansari (36), Amima Ansari (13) and Umera Ansari (8), whose bodies have been recovered. The family was outside when the tragedy occurred. Was having fun. The members came too close to the waterfall and were swept away by the strong current."

Rescue efforts were immediately initiated with Lonavala police and emergency services responding swiftly to the incident.
