The search operation, which was suspended on Tuesday due to darkness and heavy rain in Goli-Gadi forests of Doda district, was resumed with first light on Wednesday, officials said.

There was a gunfight between terrorists and security forces in that area for more than two hours on Tuesday, after which the terrorists fled into the densely forested Goli-Gadi area.

Officials said that the search operation has been resumed and the security forces are now engaged in locating the terrorists in the forest area.

A massive CASO (cordon and search operation) was launched on Tuesday along with elite para commandos of the army to search for the terrorists.

Drone surveillance, sniffer dogs, sharpshooters and experts in mountain search and warfare are part of the massive CASO underway in the region.

Tuesday's encounter in Doda followed an ambush on an Army patrol in Kathua. The terrorist attack, which was the fifth in Jammu in a month, left five soldiers dead.
