Bhubaneswar, Odisha government on Thursday said schools will return to their regular timetable from June 22.

In a statement, the School and Mass Education Department said schools will operate from 6.30 am to 10.30 am on June 21 due to hot and humid weather conditions predicted by the IMD. Most schools reopened after summer holidays on 17 and 18 June.

School and Mass Education Minister Nityanand Gond had earlier said that the decision regarding school reopening and timing will be re-evaluated based on the prevailing weather conditions.

He stressed that district collectors were directed to take a decision on reopening of schools or change in schedule for classes 1 to 12 in government, aided and private schools keeping in mind the local weather conditions .

"If the weather remains favourable, morning classes can be held from 6.30 am to 10.30 am," he had told reporters.

The India Meteorological Department estimates that hot and humid weather will continue in some districts till June 21, with day temperatures expected to gradually drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius over the next three days as the southwest monsoon advances over the state. Will proceed in more parts.
