However, a vacation bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath sought response from the National Testing Agency (NTA) and others on the plea seeking cancellation of the NEET UG exam held on May 05 this year.

“It is not that simple because what you have done is sacred. Sanctity has been affected, so we need answers. How much time do you want (to respond to the petition)? Immediately upon reopening? Otherwise counseling will start. If you need more time, we will stop the counselling,” remarked the bench, which also included Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah.

In response, the lawyer representing NTA said a similar petition was filed before CJI D.Y. on July 8. Coming for hearing before the bench headed by. Chandrachur.

On this, the top court said, "We will hear this case on July 8." We will tag it with pending petition. In the meantime, you (NTA) file your reply.

Earlier, the apex court had refused to stay the declaration of the result of NEET UG exam but had issued notice to NTA and others in a similar case.

The petition, filed by young aspiring students, has sought directions for a speedy and thorough investigation into "malpractices and cheating" in the NEET exam held on May 5 and a stay on the declaration of results till the investigation into the paper leak is completed.

Further, it sought direction to NTA to withdraw the results of the examination held on May 5 and conduct the examination afresh after issuing appropriate public notice.
