Kolkata: Following allegations by several women, the Trinamool Congress on Friday said it will file a complaint with the Election Commission (EC) against NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma for "misusing her chair" and "being one of the key conspirators in the Sandesh Khal case". Will file a formal complaint. She was duped by local BJ leaders into filing sexual harassment complaints against TMC leaders.

Regarding alleged atrocities on women and violence in Sandeshkhali, the National Commission for Women (NCW) had recommended to President Draupadi Murma that President's rule be imposed in West Bengal.

Stating TMC's intention to move the Election Commission against Sharma, West Bengal minister and TMC spokesperson Shashi Panja on Friday alleged that the NCW chairperson acted under "political bias" on baseless allegations and "sexually harassed women of the region". "Encouraged to make false allegations." ,

Several purported videos of Sandeshkhali women shared by the TMC on Thursday claimed that a local leader of the saffron party made the women sign blank papers, which were later filled in as sexual harassment complaints. In those purported videos, the women claimed that they were asked by local BJP worker Piyali Das to personally appear at the local police station and narrate their ordeal before the NCW team, which had gone to Sandeshkhali to take stock of the ground situation. The women alleged that they never intended to file sexual harassment complaints, but were later surprised to find that such complaints were filed in their names after Das allegedly signed those blank papers.

In a separate set of videos shared by TMC, the women were heard expressing their desire to withdraw those complaints and alleged that the BJP was issuing threats and monetary compensation after they expressed their desire to reconsider.

Till now the authenticity of the video put in the public domain has not been personally verified.

The TMC spokesperson claimed that the BJP is trying to create an ecosystem over the allegations of atrocities in Sandeshkhali and it is trying to form various organizations for this purpose. He alleged that though the BJP central leadership was regularly visiting West Bengal for election campaigning, they had stopped talking about Sandeshkhali in view of the latest developments at the ground level.

Panja said, "We demand that Amit Shah ji, who is coming again, should speak on this matter and apologise." He alleged that the BJP is making false claims on Sandeshkhali only to attract votes.

Shah is scheduled to address two public meetings in the state on Friday in support of BJP candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.

Panja said TMC has already filed a complaint with the Election Commission on such allegations against BJP and Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari.Adhikari has already rejected TMC's allegations, claiming that the videos were fabricated and has threatened to move court over the issue.
