Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday inaugurated the exhibition on Litchi festival and agriculture, organized by the Department of Horticulture, in Jammu and said that the Development Program Holistic Agricultural Development (HADP) has emerged as a game-changer for the agricultural and allied sector of J-K.

In his address, the Lt. Governor congratulated the progressive farmers and producers and all stakeholders.

He said this unique initiative is a testament to the UT administration's unwavering commitment to the welfare of farmers and our determination to explore new avenues to bring prosperity in their lives.

The Lt Governor highlighted the progressive reforms and policies of the UT Administration, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to harness the potential of the agriculture and horticulture sectors.

"The Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP) has emerged as a game-changer for J&K's agriculture and allied sector. 29 HADP projects have the potential to address the challenges faced by farmers and will diversify income sources," he said the Lieutenant Governor.

The Lt Governor called for collective efforts of all stakeholders for effective field implementation of HADP, especially in Jammu Division.

He asked agricultural universities to carry out specific interventions that can help increase the income of farmers in the litchi plantation sector.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration has set a target of converting around 160 hectares of litchi cultivation into high-density plantations in the coming years, the lieutenant governor observed. He assured all necessary support and assistance from the administration to the farmers in marketing litchi and other fruits.

The Lt Governor lauded the contribution of progressive farmers in encouraging small and marginal farmers towards diversification.

The Lt Governor visited the stalls set up by the farmers and businessmen and also congratulated the winners in the best stall category. A book on litchi cultivation was also published on the occasion.

Progressive farmers shared their success stories and expressed gratitude to the government for progressive schemes like HADP.

Bharat Bhushan, president of DDC Jammu; Shailendra Kumar, Principal Secretary, Agricultural Production Department; Dr. BN Tripathi, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST Jammu; Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Senior officials, farmers and various stakeholders were present.
