Mumbai: The original Aadhaar card, rent agreement and bike purchase documents produced by two suspects wanted in connection with the shooting at actor Salman Khan's Bandra residence helped police establish their identities, an official said on Tuesday.

After identifying the two, the police used human and technical intelligence to track them.

Joint teams of Kutch-West and Mumbai police arrested Vicky Gupta (24) and Sagar Pal (21) from Gujarat's Mata No Madh village late on Monday night, less than 48 hours after one of them was arrested at Khan's house. There was firing.

"Preliminary investigation has revealed that both Sagar Pal and Vicky Gupta were hired by Lawrence Bishnoi's gang to carry out the firing at Khan's house," Mahendra Bagadia, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Kutch West, said earlier in the day.

A Mumbai Police official said the two, originally from Champaran in Bihar, traveled to Mumbai Central station on February 28.He said, they rented a house near Panvel city in Raigad, about 13 km from Salma Khan's farmhouse. However, it is not known whether he had conducted recce of the farmhouse or not.



He also said that both of them used their original Aadhaar cards for the rent agreement.



“A settlement was reached with the home owner, in which the lump sum deposit was fixed at Rs 10,000 and the monthly rent was fixed at Rs 3,500,” he said.

After staying in Panvel for a few days, the two traveled to Champaran on March 18 to celebrate Holi.He said, he returned on April 1.

On April 2, Vicky Gupta bought a second-hand motorcycle for Rs 24,000 from a two-wheeler agent in Navi Mumbai, he said.

After a few days, the pistol used for the firing was delivered to him by his handler in Mumba, the officer said.



After the firing incident that took place on the morning of April 14, the police had recovered a live cartridge from the spot.



"Considering the make of the bullet, the police suspect that a good quality weapon was used," he said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Pal, who was riding pillion on the motorcycle, opened fire, while Gupta kept in touch with the gang members while riding the bike.After the firing, the duo abandoned the bike near Mount Mary Church in Bandra and drove to the local railway station and boarded a Borivali-bound local train, the officer said.

"They got down at Santa Cruz railway station and from Vakola area they hired a car to go to Surat. From Surat, they went to Bhuj in a state transport bus," he said.

While going to Surat, he threw the gun used in the crime in a river.

“Police are trying to establish the identity of the person who provided them with logistics support and money for their stay in Panvel and for buying a bike and other expenses,” the officer said.,

Talking about how this breakthrough was achieved, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Lakhmi Gautam said, “With the help of human and technical intelligence, the crime branch team got information that the accused persons were in Gujarat, following which two teams Was sent to capture." Them".

He said that there is a possibility that the accused were carrying weapons.

"Since the area of ​​Bhuj was unknown to our officers, the Bhuj superintendent of police was informed about the accused persons," he said.

A team from the Bhuj crime branch joined Mumbai Police officials, about 60 km from Bhuj.

Lakhmi Gautam said, “After traveling further about 40 kilometres, both the accused were caught by the team.He was brought to Mumbai this morning."

Another officer said the police first traced the original owner of the motorcycle to Kalamboli in Navi Mumbai.

The owner referred them to the agent, who showed the documents submitted for the purchase of the bike, the officer said.

Based on these documents, which also included the rent agreement, the police contacted the landlord. He told that the identity of both was revealed through Aadhaar card.Meanwhile, Lakhmi Gautam said there is good coordination between the partner agencies as Mumbai Police and their Gujarat counterpart have taken credit for the arrests separately.
