San Francisco, customer relationship management-focused Salesforce is interested in expanding in India and seeking more space in the country, a top official said on Wednesday.

The company, which has centers in Bengaluru and Hyderabad to support global operations, is currently looking for space to expand in India, its chief operating officer Brian Millham said here.

Apart from this, Salesforce also caters to the domestic market and this business has been the fastest growing in any country for two consecutive years.

"India has been incredible for us from a growth perspective. But maybe that pales in comparison to what we see in India from an employee perspective," he said, making it clear that the support provided to global operations is important.

The company will also continue to invest in India in the future, Milham said, adding: "In fact, (we are) looking for new space and expansion in that market."

When asked about the same, its engineering head Srini Tallapragada explained that he will invest in the innovation hubs of Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

Its country head, Arundhati Bhattacharya, said the number of employees in India has more than doubled to more than 13,000 in the last two years and added that it will continue to add people. However, he declined to give a medium-term goal for employees, saying the demand environment will influence additions.

Bhattacharya made it clear that the company is not looking at India from a cost arbitrage perspective when it comes to employees and said he does not see any talent shortage in India.

It has also been actively working to expand the Salesforce ecosystem in the country through various initiatives such as having more than 20 lakh pioneers and also internships where it will train more than 2 lakh people in an internship-centric partnership with the All India Council for. Technical Education, he said.

The company will also launch a dedicated offering for small businesses next year, he said.

Bhattacharya said demand for Salesforce services is present across sectors and he hoped to retain the title of fastest growing market for three consecutive years.

To grow the domestic business faster, he recently created a government division that will take advantage of opportunities presented by the state, such as assisting in the implementation of citizen services, government plans and healthcare benefits, among others.

Bhattacharya said her transition from being SBI president to the current role has been energizing and she added that she brings customer focus to the table.
