Chandigarh, SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday formed a three-member committee to recommend a candidate for the Jalandhar West reserved assembly seat, where by-elections are scheduled on July 10.
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) panel members are former Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Bibi Jagir Kaur, former MLA Gurpratap Singh Wadala and MLA Dr Sukhwinder Sukhi.
According to a party statement, the panel will also conduct and manage the party's campaign in the by-elections.
The by-election for Jalandhar West (SC) assembly constituency will be held on July 10 and the counting of votes will take place on July 13.
The by-election was necessitated after the resignation of Sheetal Angural as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA.
AAP has fielded Mohinder Bhagat for the by-election, while BJP has made Angural its candidate.
The nomination process for the by-election on Jalandhar West seat started from July 14.
The last date for filing nomination is June 21. While the scrutiny of nominations will take place on June 24, the last date for withdrawal of nominations is June 26.
