Chennai, Defender Ryan Edwards has extended his contract with Chennaiyin FC and will remain with the Indian Super League club till 2025.

Edwards was CFC captain for the 2023–24 season and made a total of 2 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and one assist.

“Ryan's extension is already one of the biggest signings for the upcoming season. It was important that we bring in someone who knows what we are doing at this club and where we want to take it,” head coach Owen Coyle said in a statement.

Edwards played for Scottish team Dundee United in the past and made 11 appearances over three seasons, scoring eight goals. He also made 92 appearances in the Scottish First Division.

He said, "I'm looking forward to another season in the ISL and after a good first step qualifying for the playoffs, hopefully this time I can help lead the Teas towards winning some silverware Am."

Edwards captained the Blackburn FC team that reached the FA Youth Cup final in 2011–12.
