New Delhi [India], Several cars were covered after the collapse of a roof in Terminal 1 of the Delhi airport, a fire official reported on Friday.

Upon receiving the information, around three fire crews rushed to the scene.

"Around 5.30am we received a call about the roof collapse at Terminal 1 of Delhi airport. Three fire engines were rushed to the spot," said a Delhi Fire Services official.

More details are awaited.

The incident occurred when Delhi-NCR was hit by a spell of heavy rain on Friday.

Meanwhile, several regions of Delhi-NCR were affected by intense waterlogging problems. Footage shows that Govindpuri area in south Delhi and Sector 95 of Noida are submerged in water.

Delhi and NCR (National Capital Region) received incessant rains accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning from early hours of Friday.

Parts of Delhi received heavy rainfall on Thursday, bringing much-needed respite from the sweltering heat.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the weather for the next seven days in Delhi, predicting generally cloudy skies and rain of varying intensity accompanied by gusty winds.

As predicted by the IMD for June 28, the forecast includes light to moderate rain or thunderstorms, with temperatures similar to the previous day and winds reaching speeds of up to 35 km/h.

The weather on June 29 is expected to be slightly cooler, with a high of 36°C and a low of 28°C. The city is likely to experience light to moderate rain or thunderstorms with winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 km/h. On June 30, temperatures will drop further to 34°C, with moderate to heavy rain and gusty winds.

For July 1 and 2, the IMD forecasts thunderstorms with moderate rain, with temperatures stable at 34°C maximum and 27°C minimum. Wind speed will continue to vary, remaining in a range of 25-35 km/h.
