Chennai, Rohit Sharma and company had another extensive training session ahead of the first Test against Bangladesh and the 16-member team headed to practice at Chepauk here on Monday.

After a day off, members of the Indian team took part in their third training session since arriving here last week. The first test begins on Thursday.

As is often the case, Virat Kohli was among the first group of batsmen to hit the nets. In the adjacent net was left-hander Yashasvi Jaiswal, as both he and Kohli took on Jasprit Bumrah and local hero R Ashwin.

The next group of batsmen included captain Rohit, Shubman Gill and Sarfaraz Khan, the last named player who arrived here after featuring in the Duleep Trophy second round match in Anantapur. The captain focused on playing spinners considering Bangladesh's slow bowling attack.

Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant and pacer Mohammed Siraj also faced local bowlers and a significant number of knocks.

The practice field in the main square offered a decent amount of bounce.

India will have two more practice sessions scheduled before the series opener against Bangladesh, who are confident of their series win in Pakistan.

Most of the players in the eleven select themselves. The Chennai surface usually favors spinners and there is a chance that India will enter the game with three spinners and two pacers.

The spinners expected to feature are Ashwin, Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav, while Bumrah and Siraj will share the workload in the pace department. Axar Patel, despite his impressive performances in all formats, may have to sit out.

On the batting front, Pant is expected to return to his Test after a gap of almost two years. Dhruv Jurel, who impressed in his debut series against England, will be benched in that case.
