New Delhi: State-owned RITES Limited on Monday signed a contract with Bangladesh Railways to supply 200 broad-gauge passenger trains to the neighboring country.

"RITES, the export arm of Indian Railways, has won a contract worth US$ 111.26 million (approximately Rs 915 crore) funded by the European Investment Bank through a global competitive bidding process," a press statement from RITE Ltd said.

It added that apart from supply, RITES will provide its expertise in design, spar parts support and training as per the terms and conditions of the contract.

"The contract is supplied with a commission period of 36 months, followed by a warranty period of 24 months," according to the statement.

This contract highlights the company's commitment to drive growth through export of indigenously developed world class railway rolling stock, in line with the vision of 'Make in India, for the World'.

“RITES has been a longstanding partner in the infrastructure development path of Bangladesh. Earlier, it had supplied 120 BG passenger coaches (LHB type), 36 B locomotives and 10 meter gauge locomotives to Bangladesh Railways, besides collaborating on other infrastructure projects.
