New Delhi: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's lawyer appeared before the Delhi Police on Wednesday and said the Congress leader had nothing to do with making or posting the doctored video of Amit Shah's speech.

Reddy, who was summoned by the police here for allegedly posting the video on Accused of adopting. His stance on reservation.

Police sources said they are close to identifying the creator of the deepfake video, but they need to confirm about other people who uploaded or forwarded it before they can get to the suspect.

Notices have also been given to five more people from different opposition parties for sharing the video.

A party spokesperson said on Wednesday that Jharkhand Congress President Rajesh Thakur has also been summoned by Delhi Police on May 2 in connection with the investigation.Thakur said, "I received a notice from Delhi Police on Tuesday. But, it is beyond my understanding why I was given a notice. This is nothing but anarchy."

Reddy's lawyer appeared before Delhi Police on Wednesday after summons were issued against Telangana Congress chief Reddy and four State Congress Committee members for allegedly posting videos on X.

He was asked to join the investigation at 10:30 am on Wednesday.

Another police source said, “Police are still waiting for responses from those who were called today.A dozen more people are expected to come forward in the coming days. Some people from Uttar Pradesh are expected to be interrogated on Thursday."

Reddy's lawyer responded to Delhi Police saying that his "client does not operate the handle '@INCTelangana' and hence is unable to provide the information sought by you." He also said that the Delhi Police notice "appears to be misdirected" and requested them to withdraw it immediately.

“Your allegation that ‘the video was tweeted/retweeted by you on your X/Twitter handle’ is preconceived and false.It is clearly stated that my client has nothing to do with the making, uploading or tweeting/retweeting of the alleged video. "Read the lawyer's reply.

The lawyer said that Reddy's Twitter handle is @revanth anumula and "no tweet or retweet of the alleged video" has been made from his handle.

"Furthermore, the official handle of the Chief Minister of Telangana on XI Telangana CMO states that in view of the above facts, your notice appears to be misdirected and based on wrong information and hence you are requested to withdraw the above notice. Go immediately,” it added.Addressing an election rally in Hyderabad's Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency, Reddy said a case has been registered against him in Delhi on the basis of a complaint by the Union Home Ministry.

He said, "I questioned BJP. When I did so, PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Ami Shah took a vindictive attitude and filed a case against me in Delhi."

Reddy and four Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) members – Shiv Kumar Ambala, Asma Taslim, Satish Manne and Navi Pattem – were issued summons under sections 91 and 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

According to police sources, if a person is served a notice under Section 160/9 of CrPC, the person can either appear before the IO or send a legal representative.Reacting to the case registered against him, Reddy said, "You (Modi) come to my state and threaten the CM, but the people of Telangana are not so innocent... will not be afraid..."

"Beware (beware) PM ji, you can think that you can come to Telangana and threaten. This is my place. This is my area. You are threatening me on my soil?"

Delhi Police has not received any response from X regarding the report on the IDs that shared the doctored video of Amit Shah.
