Ghaziabad (UP), A 72-year-old retired police inspector allegedly shot himself with his double barrel gun on Monday.

He told that a retired police inspector named Rameshwar Dayal Gaur lived in Nehru Nagar Colony of the city.

Police said that the incident happened at around 1 pm on Monday afternoon.

He said that the retired police inspector on Monday got rid of his licensed gun from a gun house, which was deposited there during the elections as per the instructions of the Election Commission.

ACP Nandgram Ravi Kumar said Gaur was reportedly depressed due to multiple health problems like enlarged prostate gland and diabetes.

He said that the retired inspector was shot below his chin, due to which he died on the spot.

Police said that the body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem.
