"We are pleased to announce the launch of the Longevity India Initiative, an ambitious multi-pronged initiative to enhance human health and tackle the challenges of aging in India," the institute said in a post on X.com on Friday. It is a thematic effort."

The initiative, launched on Thursday, will conduct large-scale clinical studies led by multidisciplinary experts from academia, industry and healthcare to address complex challenges related to aging and find solutions through bot fundamental and applied research.

“The Longevity India Initiative challenges the notion that aging is an inevitable fate. As we study the complexities of aging, we understand the importance of considering the various factors that shape it, including lifestyle, culture, genetics, and environment. Existing longevity research may not be sufficient with India's unique demographic scenario. This initiative is an effort to bring together multiple stakeholders working in this area and explore the topic factoring in the specific and diverse needs of India,” said Prashant Prakash, Founding Partner, Excel India.

“It is important to advance scientific research related to aging and we believe that research-based interventions can pave the way to healthy aging in India,” Prakash said.

Clinical research will primarily focus on disease detection, identifying early aging biomarkers, and developing new therapeutics and technologies for AI in healthy aging.
