"I congratulate all the supporters...He should also have been allowed to take oath as a Lok Sabha MP in June along with other MPs. Supporters are very happy that he took oath as a Lok Sabha MP. I request the government to release him from jail," Balwinder Kaur told ANI.

Amritpal Singh's father Tarsem Singh said the government should allow the people of Punjab to meet him once.

"I congratulate all the supporters. We have not been informed about the information that has reached here or not (from Dibrugarh jail)... This is a matter of joy for Khadoor Sahib voters and Punjabis residing across the world....There was speculation about whether he would be an MP or not, but that will come to an end today...The government should allow the people of Punjab to meet him once...He should be released unconditionally," Tarsem Singh. he told ANI.
