New Delhi [India], Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi suggested that the Babar Azam-led side should make some changes in their playing eleven as their chances of playing in the next edition of the T20 World Cup hang in the balance.

During the preparation for the World Cup, Pakistan has tried to experiment with its team. Their struggle to find balance and the right combination has led to their consecutive defeats in the ongoing T20 World Cup.

They suffered a crushing five-run defeat in the Super Over against co-hosts USA. On Sunday, on a difficult New York surface, Pakistan failed to chase the target of 120 against arch-rivals India.Afridi pointed out some changes in the playing eleven that the Pakistan team should implement to turn around their fortunes. Want to see former captain Fakhar Zaman in the opening slot along with Mohammad Rizwan, while Babar Azam has been dropped at number three to increase depth.

"I think it's time to make some changes for Gary Kirsten and Babar Azam. I would like to see Salman Ali Aga (he is not part of the T20 World Cup squad) come into the team in place of Usman Khan and Abrar Ahmed I want.” To replace Shadab Khan, above all, I believe Fakhar Zaman should be promoted to open the innings with Mohammad Rizwan, Babar will be dropped at number three," Shahid told ICC. Wrote in the column.Pakistan's chances of joining the Super 8 will depend on America losing the next two matches. To have a better net run rate than the co-hosts, they will have to win their remaining two games by a bigger margin.

Despite the odds, Afridi wants everyone to remain optimistic as the Green team is still in the race to progress to the next round.

"There are some tough conversations and choices to be made but we have to remember there is still hope: Pakistan is not out of the tournament yet," Afridi said.

Pakistan will take on Canada in the third match of their campaign on Tuesday in New York.
