The two booths where re-polling took place on Monday were booth number 61 under Deganga assembly constituency of Barasat Lok Sabha constituency and booth number 26 under Kakdweep assembly constituency of Mathurapur Lok Sabha constituency.

There were reports of tension from booths in Mathurapur where ruling Trinamool Congress workers allegedly tried to oust BJP polling agents.

BJP candidate from Mathurapur Ashok Purkait, who reached the spot, said, "The ruling party workers had indulged in large-scale violence across Mathurapur on the polling day on June 1. The same was repeated during re-polling on Monday."

However, Trinamool candidate Bapi Halder denied the allegations and claimed that the fear of defeat prompted the BJP candidate to make such false allegations.

Sporadic violence was also reported from the Barasat booth, where local BJP leader Qasim Ali got into a heated argument with police officers present outside the booth.
