RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das on Friday said this will help customers to automatically replenish the balance in Fastag, NCMC etc if the balance falls below the limit set by them. This will increase convenience in making travel related payments.

RBI has also decided to start auto-replenishment of UPI Lite wallet. The move aims to achieve widespread adoption of UPI Lite by bringing it under the e-mandate framework.

“A facility is also being introduced for customers to automatically refill their UPI Lite wallet if the balance drops below the threshold limit. This will make it easier to make small value digital payments,” Das explained.

UPI Lite was introduced in September 2022 to enable small value payments in a quick and seamless manner through on-device wallets.
