Vishnoi was admitted to Jodhpur hospital in September due to stomach pain, after which he was advised to undergo surgery. Priyanka underwent surgery, but her condition deteriorated on September 6. She was eventually transferred to Ahmedabad, where she died on September 18.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, among other BJP leaders, condoled her death.

Vishnoi's community in Jodhpur staged a massive protest on Thursday after her death, alleging that she died due to the negligence of doctors at a Jodhpur-based private hospital. The community demanded an FIR against the doctors as they claimed that her condition worsened after the surgery there.

According to her family, Priyanka underwent surgery in Jodhpur after complaining of stomach pain. Doctors diagnosed a cyst and recommended surgery. Her relatives have accused the doctors of negligence.

On Thursday, the community staged a dharma in front of AIIMS demanding FIR against the doctors who performed Priyanka's surgery. A team was formed under DCP West Rajshri Verma, who spoke to the community members and told them that they can file a case only when an investigation team submits a report.

Subsequently a consensus was reached and dharna was dissolved. Her family members left with her body to Surpura in Phalodi, where her in-laws' house is located.

Priyanka was an RAS officer of the 2016 batch.

Society representative Ramnivas Vishnoi Budhnagar said, “We want to register an FIR against the negligence of the hospital administration. The police and administration do not register any case. People of the society have come here (AIIMS Postmortem House) in search of justice. Four days ago the collector also formed a committee and ordered an inquiry. Today is the fourth day, but neither the investigation report has arrived nor the family members have been informed about this report.”

Earlier, Priyanka's father-in-law Seiram Vishnoi had written a letter to the collector demanding an investigation. Jodhpur district collector Gaurav Agarwal also directed the principal of the medical college to form a committee, investigate the matter and submit a report within three days.

Director Dr Bharti Saraswat said an inquiry committee has been formed and will begin work on Thursday.

Vishnoi Samaj national president Devendra Budia said, “Everything has happened under a conspiracy. It has been exposed. Society will guarantee justice for his daughter. I demand a CBI investigation. I appeal to the Vishnoi society to fight until our daughter gets justice. So that in the future no daughter will be murdered.”
