Los Angeles, American rapper Ice Spice is set to launch his acting career with Spike Lee's English-language reinterpretation of Akira Kurosawa's crime thriller "High and Low".

Ice Spice has already begun shooting the film, which also stars Danze Washington, reports entertainment news outlet Variety.

The singer, whose real name is Isis Naija Gaston, has worked with many popular artists including Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift and Pink Panther. He achieved a breakthrough with his 2022 single "Munch (Feelin' You)".

The original film directed by Kurosawa was released in 1963. It stars Toshiro Mifune, Tatsuya Nakadai, Kyoko Kagawa, Takashi Shimura and Tatsuya Mihashi.

"High and Low" followed Kingo Gondo (Mifune), a shoe executive who is in the middle of a complicated corporate takeover when his plans are derailed by the accidental kidnapping and ransom of his driver's son instead of his own son. .

Lee's film will also star Jeffrey Wright and Ilfenesh Hadera.

The film is a collaboration between Apple Original Films and A24.
