MLA Muniratha is currently lodged in Bengaluru Central Jail on charges of threatening life and using caste insults against a contractor.

The Special Court has reserved its order on Munirathna's bail plea for Thursday.

Police sources confirmed that in case the MLA gets bail, he will be arrested again in the rape case immediately after coming out of the Central Prison. If the court denies him bail, he will be taken into police custody with a warrant in the case.

The Kaggalipura police in Ramanagara district on Thursday lodged an FIR against Munirathna following a complaint by a social activist. The complainant has stated in her complaint that she knew Munirathna in public life. She developed closeness to her by making calls on her mobile phone. She took her to a warehouse she owned in Mutyalanagara and raped her.

The complainant had also stated that she recorded the act and threatened her that if the matter came to light, she would be treated. The victim also claimed that she was forced to trap people at different private resorts. “BJP MLA forced me to perform honey traps. “He had threatened to kill me to do this job,” the victim stated in her complaint, sources confirmed.

The Kaggalipura police have also booked an FIR against six of his associates. Vijaykumar, Kiran, Lohit, Manjunath, Loki and two more.

The victim approached the police late on Wednesday night and recorded her statement before MP SP Dinakar Shetty. The police registered the case in the early hours of Thursday under sections 354, 354 (C), 308, 406, 384, 120 (B), 504, 506 and 149 of the IPC.

The police have also booked the Rajarajeshwari Nagar MLA under the provisions of the IT Act and the Representation of People Act. The case has been registered under IPC Sections as the incident took place earlier.

The victim, upon leaving the police station, said that she had been stressed since the morning and that the police department did not allow her to talk about the incident. “I have suffered a lot,” she said.
