Ranchi, Ram Navami was celebrated across Jharkhand on Wednesday amidst heavy security.

Long queues were seen outside temples across the state since morning, while processions were taken out in many areas.

Many streets were decorated with saffron flags bearing images of Lord Ra and Lord Hanuman. Apart from the rituals, Hanuman Chalisa and Ramcharitmanas were recited in many temples.

Chief Minister Champair Soren visited Ram Janaki Tapovan Temple in Ranchi and offered prayers.

"I wish the people of the state on the occasion of Ra Navami. We should follow the ideals of Lord Ram and develop the society," he told reporters.

Governor CP Radhakrishnan extended his best wishes on this occasion.

"The life of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram is a source of inspiration for the entire mankind," he posted in Hindi on X.

Thousands of people representing various Akharas took out processions in different parts of the state with traditional weapons.

According to police, more than 4,700 Akharas took out such processions across Jharkhand.

In the state capital Ranchi, processions from different parts of the city culminated at the Tapovan temple.

Security has been beefed up with heavy deployment of police personnel across the state. Besides, drones were also used to monitor religious gatherings, officials said, adding that the focus was on Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Jamshedpur Giridih, Lohardaga and Palamu districts.
