Rajkot, Gujarat A court in Rajkot has sought a report from the SIT probing the TRP game zone fire on a plea seeking registration of criminal cases against transferred IPS and IAS officers and others suspended following the tragedy.

The 'criminal investigation petition' sought a First Information Report (FIR) against the then Rajkot Police Commissioner Raju Bhargava, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Anan Patel and two IPS officers, who were transferred and arrested after the May 25 incident. Nine officers were suspended, resulting in the loss of 27 lives.

Petitioner Vinesh Chhaya's lawyer Rajesh Jalu said that Additional Judicial Magistrate B P Thakar on Wednesday issued a notice to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) seeking the status report of the ongoing investigation against all the officers by June 20.

The petition argued that the grounds on which these officers were transferred or suspended were sufficient to lodge an FIR.

The petitioner sought an FIR against these officers under sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), section 337 (causing hurt to any person by rash or negligent act and endangering human life or safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code.338 (causing grievous hurt to any person by such act as to endanger his life or personal safety).

"The reason for filing this present complaint is also that 27 people have died and others have been injured due to negligence in duty," the plea said.

The petition said that TRP Game Zone was running without permission or license for the last three-four years.

Apart from Bhargava, the then Rajkot Deputy Commissioner of Police Sudhirkumar Desa and Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Vidhi Choudhary as well as Municipal Corporation Commissioner Anand Patel were also transferred and kept awaiting posting two days after the incident.

The suspended civic officials include Chief Fire Officer Ilesh Kher, Deputy Chief Fire Officer Bhikhabhai Theba, Assistant Engineer Jaideep Chaudhary, Assistant Town Planner Gautam Joshi, Fire Station Officer Rahit Vigora, Deputy Executive Engineer of Roads and Buildings Department MR Suma, then Assistant Engineer Paras. Are.Kothia, and police inspectors V R Patel and N I Rathod.

In a related development, the court sent Kirit Singh Jadeja, the fifth accused arrested in the fire case, on eight-day police remand.
