UPS is a multinational shipping and supply chain management company founded in 1907.

In a post on the X social media platform, Chandrashekhar said the country looks forward to welcoming UPS to begin local production.

Chandrashekhar posted, "All the best to @UPS. We look forward to partnering with you to succeed and expand your Indian semiconductor manufacturing plans."

The world's largest parcel delivery company is in touch with some state governments for its local production plans, taking advantage of the favorable chip investment environment in the country, the report said.

The country is on track to become a major player in the global semiconductor supply chain with a $10 billion incentive to encourage local chip manufacturing.

From a negligible presence in the global supply chain a decade ago, the country is now playing a significant role in the supply chain ecosystem, investment and job opportunities.

The IMF estimates that India will be the world's third largest economy with a GDP of $5 trillion by 2027.
